Welcome

Food Pantry

Welcome to the Three Virtues Food Pantry Program - Nourishing Bodies, Nurturing Communities! For over a decade, the Three Virtues Organization, Inc. has been a steadfast pillar of support for families in South Miami-Dade County facing food insecurity. Our food pantry program serves as a lifeline, offering relief to the most vulnerable members of our community. Three Virtues Food Pantry program is committed to empowering those in need; our pantry caters to predominantly low-income migrant workers, immigrants, and refugee families striving to make ends meet. Meeting the Needs of Our Community: In a country where poverty is as high as 40%, 95% of our families are defined as low-income due to their participation in free/reduced lunch programs or government assistance initiatives like SNAP or Medicaid. The Three Virtues Food Pantry plays an essential role. While government assistance provides valuable support, sustaining a family throughout the entire month is often insufficient. As a result, our pantry has evolved from an emergency resource to a semi-permanent solution for food insecurity. A Caring Monthly Distribution: Our dedicated team serves around 100 families monthly, ensuring that nutritious and culturally responsive food products reach their homes. From fresh fruits and vegetables to staple items like white rice, black beans, oil, and spaghetti, we curate each distribution carefully. Recognizing the importance of personal care, we include hygiene products such as toilet paper, soaps, and paper towels/napkins. A Touch of Compassion and Flexibility: When finances allow or through generous sponsorships, we offer gift cards ranging from $20 to $50 to our families. These cards provide a sense of autonomy, allowing them to choose essential items, not allowed through government-subsidized programming or indulge in small treats for their loved ones. The Mini Pantry: A Lifeline in Emergencies: For families facing urgent needs, our mini pantry is an invaluable resource. We offer slightly larger parcels with diverse products, including cereal and baby items. This mini pantry has been particularly beneficial for supporting families in emergencies. Our Specific Goals: Impacting Lives, One Family at a Time At the Three Virtues Food Pantry, we are driven by a clear set of goals that define our mission and guide our actions. Through unwavering dedication and the support of our community, we strive to make a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve. Our specific goals include: Serving 100 Families a Month: We are committed to extending our reach and support to 100 families monthly. By consistently serving this number, we ensure that a significant portion of our community receives the essential nourishment and assistance they need to thrive. Providing 75+lbs of Food and Hygiene Products: Every monthly distribution aims to provide each family with more than 75 pounds of food and hygiene products. This ensures families have access to ample nutritious food and personal care items to sustain them further during the month. Offering Information and Services for Other 3V Programs: Beyond food and hygiene provisions, we take pride in offering valuable information and access to other Three Virtues programs. Families can learn about our children's programs, providing educational and enrichment opportunities for their young ones. Additionally, we assist individuals in signing up for government benefits, such as SNAP, to further support their well-being. Providing Referral Services to Partner Organizations: We understand that the challenges faced by our community can extend beyond food insecurity. As part of our commitment to comprehensive support, we offer referral services to partner organizations. These referrals cover a wide range of critical issues, including domestic violence support, rental/utility assistance, housing procurement, and immigration assistance. Connecting families with these vital resources empowers them to address various challenges and build a stronger foundation for their future. In Unity, We Thrive: At the Three Virtues Food Pantry, our goals can only be achieved through unity and collaboration. Our incredible team of volunteers, donors, and community partners unite as a force for good, supporting our vision of a compassionate and inclusive community. Together, we uplift families, nurture spirits, and pave the way for positive change. Join Us in Making a Difference: If you share our commitment to empowering families and creating a brighter future for our community, we invite you to join our efforts. Whether through volunteering, donating, or spreading awareness about our cause, your involvement makes a meaningful impact. Let us stand together as beacons of faith, hope, and love, illuminating the path to a better tomorrow for every family we serve. Together, we can transform lives, nourish bodies, uplift spirits, and create a community where no one faces hunger or hardship alone.

After school

Welcome to the Three Virtues After-School Program: Empowering Children, Enriching Lives Established in 2012, the Three Virtues After-School Program was born from a genuine need expressed by the community we serve. Our mission is clear - to provide culturally and linguistically attuned after-school services that empower children and support families. We proudly serve minority low-income families, many of whom are themselves or descendants of immigrants, refugees, or migrant workers, and we are committed to creating a safe and nurturing space where every child can flourish. We serve 50 children ages 5-13. The program is held at St John’s Episcopal School in Homestead, FL. Children receive services from 2:00-6:00 p.m. The program includes homework help, snacks, and time for recreational activities. A Holistic Approach to Academic Success: We understand that many parents in our community face unique challenges in supporting their children academically. Limited English proficiency and navigating a new educational system in a new country can present significant hurdles. At the Three Virtues After-School Program, we offer a solution that addresses these issues head-on. With a focus on individualized attention, our low teacher-to-child ratio ensures that each child receives the support they need to thrive academically. Our mentors and tutors bring fresh perspectives to homework, providing alternative methods to help children grasp challenging concepts. We create an environment free from preconceived stigma, allowing children to build confidence and succeed without the weight of labels that may have been placed upon them. A Safe Haven for Emotional Well-Being: Beyond academic support, our after-school program is a safe haven that nurtures a child's emotional well-being. With trusted mentors guiding them, children can confidently explore their potential while their parents work longer hours with peace of mind. Our program facilitators reflect the ethnic and racial makeup of the children, offering a culturally familiar setting that celebrates diversity. Growing up in similar economic and cultural backgrounds, our facilitators exemplify that success is possible beyond the confines of their current circumstances. Through peer interactions and structured activities, children develop social skills, build self-esteem, and foster a sense of community within our safe and supportive environment. Nurturing Physical Health and Wellness: We recognize the importance of physical health in a child's overall well-being. That's why we provide nutritious snacks, supplementing their daily nutrition and ensuring they have the energy to thrive. Our recreational activities, such as soccer/football drills and free play, channel their energy and create a smooth transition from school to home. Join Us in Making a Difference: At the Three Virtues After-School Program, we believe in the transformative power of education, compassion, and unity. Together, we can empower children to excel academically, thrive emotionally, and embrace a healthier, brighter future. Join us on this journey of empowerment and enrichment - because when we uplift a child, we uplift an entire community. Our services are provided at the St John’s Episcopal School in Homestead, FL. Our holistic seven-week program curbs the summer slump that empowers young minds, nurtures their spirits, and fosters a love for learning. Additionally, we offer a leadership and training program for five teens aged 14-17, providing them with essential skills for personal growth and community engagement. By providing a stimulating environment, we empower children with the confidence to excel academically and embrace their full potential. Creating a Safe, Culturally, and Linguistically Inclusive Haven: Safety and inclusivity are at the core of our Three Virtues Summer Camp values. By providing a secure space for children to learn and play. Our leadership training program for teens aged 14-17 equips them with essential life skills and prepares them to become responsible, engaged community leaders. Meeting Nutritional Needs and Combating Food Insecurity: We understand nutrition's crucial role in a child's development and learning. Therefore, we ensure that all campers receive nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks throughout the program. Over the seven weeks, we distribute a staggering 6,545 lbs of food to the children, alleviating food insecurity and supporting their physical and mental well-being. Similar to Miami-Dade’s Summer Break Spot Food Service Program, our center distributes food to the community to anyone who graces our doors with nutritional needs. Enrichment Activities: Embracing Culture, Diversity, and Learning One of the highlights of our summer camp is the enrichment activities, designed to be culturally and linguistically diverse. With language classes in Spanish and Haitian Creole, fun cultural exchanges, and cooking experiences, children are immersed in valuable traditions and experiences beyond textbooks. Trips and guest speakers provide unique learning opportunities and connect the children to community leaders, expanding their horizons and shaping their understanding of the world. A Safe Haven for Productive Growth: Our camp nurtures academic growth and provides a safe and supportive environment for children to hone their skills and passions. Parents can trust that their children are in good hands while they work, and the camp is a positive distraction from the challenges in their neighborhoods. Join Us in Building a Brighter Future: At the Three Virtues Summer Camp, we believe in empowering children to be the change they want to see in the world. By providing them with a nurturing environment, academic support, and cultural experiences, we cultivate the leaders and innovators of tomorrow.
